interesting.
The Internet is for people. Some of whom are naked.
Some great reminders in the intro to the CA Interactive Annual. Consensus leans towards do one thing meticulously.
Seems like creative and marketing are tripping overthemselves to use the newest technologies first. “Augmented Reality” etc. After the first use comes a bunch of copycats, while innovators vie to find the next trend. Will we see an interactive uranium rush? All heading into the digital sands looking for tech to mine?
I think that tech can’t take priority over content and ideas. No one talks about the first TV show, but they celebrate the impact of the Beatles and Elvis on Ed Sullivan. There’s a short window where the medium alone can be the star.
I’m still a fan of art as inspiration and innovator. It’s like Banksy said (I think): the problem with art today is that all the great artists are working in advertising.
That and the human experience of course. But we all reflect that in our ad work already, < cough> right?
The other thought is that the race is so driven by the need to sell. What happened to entertainment media technology being driven by our need to watch naked people doing it? (I’m looking at you here, VCRs… You too streaming Internet video. You know who Daddy is. )
In all seriousness, I hope that creatives and developers find ways to apply new tech that don’t only sell and promote. Or turn tech into a product itself. I hope that there is still the desire to explore and create and inspire and maybe even help people or make lives better.
Time to google “boobies” on my iPhone.
